💰 Access Your Superannuation to Pay for Dental Treatment

Struggling to afford the dental care you need?
You may be able to access your superannuation early to cover the cost of major dental treatments—for yourself or an eligible family member—through the Early Release of Super (ERS) program.

What Dental Treatments May Be Covered?

Under compassionate grounds, the ATO allows early access to super to pay for essential dental treatment that:

  • Relieves acute or chronic pain
  • Treats serious dental conditions
  • Prevents deterioration of oral health

Commonly approved procedures:

👨‍⚕️ Who Can Apply?

  • You (the superannuation holder)
  • A dependent child
  • Your spouse or partner

You must demonstrate:

  • The procedure is medically necessary
  • You have no other means to fund the treatment

📋 How the Process Works

  1. Consultation & Treatment Plan
Our dentist will assess your needs and prepare a treatment plan with a full quote.
  2. Supporting Documentation
We assist with medical reports required for the ATO application.
  3. Application Submission
Apply via MyGov for Early Release of Super on compassionate grounds.
  4. ATO Approval & Fund Release
Once approved, your super fund will release funds directly to your bank account.
  5. Begin Your Dental Treatment
You’re now ready to start treatment with confidence.

✅ You can also contact SuperCare, or Access My Super who can guide and manage your application for a  fee.

🕒 How Long Does It Take?

The full process usually takes 2–4 weeks, depending on how quickly documents are submitted and processed by the ATO.

Q: Who makes the final decision?
A: The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) assesses your application. You must apply through your MyGov account.

Q: Can I apply myself or do I need help?
A: You can apply directly yourself, or you can also contact SuperCare, or Access My Super who can guide and manage your application for a  fee

Q: What happens if the ATO doesn’t approve my application?
A: If the application is declined, no funds will be released, and you can explore alternative payment options with us.

Q: Will this affect my retirement savings?
A: Yes, accessing your super early reduces your balance. It should be considered carefully and discussed with your financial advisor.
