In-chair whitening has become one of the most popular dental procedures of the past decade. Smoking, tea, coffee, red wine, highly coloured food and also ages causes discolouration of teeth.
How long will treatment it take?
An in-chair teeth-whitening treatment is performed at Best Western Dental Centre in around 60 minutes, enabling you to achieve an excellent result.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Extensive research has been done on the whitening gels used, making teeth whitening a simple and safe procedure that can be performed either at Best Western Dental Centre, or if you prefer, in the comfort and convenience of your own home using take-home trays.
What is the difference between in-chair and take-home whitening kits?
In-chair whitening consists of a high-strength whitening gel that is applied to your teeth by one of our dentists. It is possible to achieve an excellent result in a 60-minute treatment session.
Take-home whitening kits are used by people who prefer the comfort and privacy of their own home. Unlike the in-chair whitening treatment, at home whitening involves a series of applications because the gel is not as concentrated as the dentist’s gel. The final results achieved may be similar, although at-home treatments may take between 7-14 days before you achieve your desired result.
After taking an impression of your teeth, we will make thin plastic moulds, known as trays, which look similar to mouthguards. The whitening gel is applied to the trays and placed over your teeth. This process breaks down the discolouring pigments within the tooth’s enamel and the stains are slowly removed.
What are the side effects?
For most patients there are no side effects, but some people may experience temporary sensitivity to hot and cold. This should subside several hours after completing each treatment. If sensitivity continues, consult the team at Best Western Dental Centre for advice.
How long does results last?
For most people who choose professional in-chair or at-home teeth whitening treatments using our dentist dispensed gel, the results can last for at least two years and sometimes even longer. Some patients may require “top up” treatments after that period for continued optimal results. Smoking, drinking coffee, tea, soft drinks and eating highly coloured foods can contribute to reducing the lasting effects of your teeth whitening treatment.
We are providing Teeth Whitening for patients from Penrith and surrounding areas including Windsor, St Marys, Mount Druitt and Rooty Hill…
